Witch Hunters' Road Block

The party continues on their journey to Stone Keep. They are accompanying the caravan that is led by Hultz. Bleddyn and Myra are riding in one of the wagons. The party stops for noon meal and Nidal and Kallista notice that Bleddyn is able to cause objects to float around her. Bleddyn offers them tea and proceeds to pour the tea and serve it without lift a finger. Kallista shows her some simple cantrips and Bleddyn matches each one with and equally impressive trick.

The party is keeping a watchful eye out for orcs. They round a corner and see figures standing across the road is the distance. As the party draws nearer,  they realize there are a group of witch hunters guarding a bridge.

The witch hunters' leader commands the caravan to stop and demands that all its members submit to a strip search. Nidal strongly objects to this, but Maddack, the leader of the witch hunters, is resolved to carry out his duty. Each of the caravan members are stripped of their clothing and examined. The witch hunters only find a couple of "suspects", but Nidal intervenes and uses a command spell to get them released.

The witch hunters seize Kallista and say they need to examine her further for signs of witchcraft. They take her down to the river and quickly bind her feet and hands and throw her into the fast flowing river. Kallista is unable to save herself and begins to sink to the bottom.

Suddenly Kallista feels a force lifting her out of the water. At the same time the witch hunters who bond Kallista fall to the ground in agony. The agony is short lived as their heads literally explode. Kallista floats to safety and lands softly on the ground where Adrahil unties her. Kallista looks over to see Bleddyn walking away from the river's edge.

The four remaining witch hunters charge across the bridge to help their comrades. They threaten all sorts of vengeance on the party and the caravan, but decide discretion is the better part of valour and ride off towards Stone Keep.

The party is worry about the deaths of the witch hunters and the repercussions this will have for them. They decide to dump the witch hunters in the river. Kallista and Adrahil take some of the witch hunters garments. Nodrog and Adrahil also find 3 potions of extra healing and 50 gps on the bodies.

The party decides they have no choice and have to continue to Stone Keep. They are worried about the rough justice of the witch hunters that might face them there. It turns out they don't have to worry. A few miles up the road they come across the bodies of the other witch hunters. Adrahil checks the tracks and signs and determines that they were killed by an orc war party.

The party and caravan carry on to Stone Keep.

The Staff of the Woodlands

The party has returned to the ship and and is trying to decide how to retrieve the Grim Reaper's treasure from the bottom of the harbour.  A hooded figure stands on the dock and calls to the party. He boards the ship and introduces himself as Aldin an elf of the Realm of the Wilf Woods. He tells the party about orcs attacking the woods and destroying all goodness in the forest. The situation is desperate. Aldin lets the party know that they have a treasure item that could help the forest dwellers in their fight against the orcs - The Staff of the Woodlands.  Aldin asks the party to leave immediately and take the Staff of the Woodlands over the Fang  Mountains to the Wild Woods. Aldin is sure that once the staff is delivered to the Wild Woods the orcs will be defeated.  Aldin tells the best route to the woods is not along the river, but overland by way of Littleton and Stone Keep.  The party are reluctant to leave on this errand. Some of the party do not t...

The Grim Reaper

Having defeated the shambling mound; the party get into a rowboat and sets off to pursue the wizard in the harbour. Nidal uses her gem of seeing to find the Grim Reaper. Without the gem the ship is invisible. When the party approach the ship they find that there is some kind of dimension wall or wall of invisibility cloaking the ship. Adrahil and Nodrog push through the wall and after getting over their arms disappearing into thin air, they clamber up the side of the Grim Reaper.  A battle breaks out on the deck of the ship. The drow are tough customers and not willing to give up. While the party struggles with the crew, the wizard unleashes a fireball on the deck that engulfs almost everyone. Some drow are killed in the explosion of fire and Nidal, who is already injured, drops burned and unconscious to the deck. Things are looking very desperate.  Suddenly, Bimmz swoops down out of the sky breathing fire and strafes the wizard and drow with fire breath. The wizard is b...
