Into the Undertown

The party jumps down into the tunnel entrance. Adrahil quickly picks up the trail of  the wizard heading off to the west. The air in the tunnel is thick and there is a strong smell of methane. In fact, there is a haze in the tunnel that is interring with the adventurers' dark vision. As the party moves down the tunnel crossbow bolts suddenly fly out of the dark. Nodrog takes a glancing hit. Luckily the rest of the party are unscathed. Led by Nidal the party charges into the dark to take on their attackers. Kallista and Nibbidard, wisely hang back, to keep an eye on a side tunnel. Nibbidard uses the lantern of seeing to light up the darkness.

Nidal's sword glows with anger as she strikes out at the Drow warriors who stand before her. Nodrog adds his own sword swinging to the fight. Adrahil, despite the threat of a methane explosion, ignites flame tongue and swings. Luckily the magical flame of his sword does not result in disaster. A fierce struggle breaks out between the trio and the  Drow. As some of the Drow fall, Kallista shouts a warning. There are more Drow behind the party! Kallista casts a poisonous cloud and it does some very heavy damage to the second Drow party. While the Drow are still coughing and recovering, Kallista hits them with a ray of frost and all of the Drow she targeted drop dead.

Eventually, Nidal, Adrahil and Nodrog overcome the the first group of Drow. The decide to continue heading the the west to catch the wizard.

The situation is desperate. Aldin lets the party know that they have a treasure item that could help the forest dwellers in their fight against the orcs - The Staff of the Woodlands.  Aldin asks the party to leave immediately and take the Staff of the Woodlands over the Fang  Mountains to the Wild Woods. Aldin is sure that once the staff is delivered to the Wild Woods the orcs will be defeated.  Aldin tells the best route to the woods is not along the river, but overland by way of Littleton and Stone Keep.  The party are reluctant to leave on this errand.
