The surprise that Nerak has arranged for the adventurers involves her Drow allies. It is Nerak's hope that the Drow will dispose of the adventures, while Nerak and her accomplices strike at their real target - The Temple of Light.

Nodrog's injury isn't severe, but he realizes that he is beginning to feel disoriented and dizzy he slowly moves out of the line of fire. Nidal rushes in to attack the ambushers, but her actions are in vain as the enemy cannot be located. After carefully scouting the area, the party realizes that there are figures moving along the roof tops. Suddenly two Drow drop down behind Kallista and Nibbidard. A green sheen of deadly poison  on their blades shows in the street light. Fortunately, the drow are no match for Adrahil and Nidal and are quickly dispatched.

The party move into the warren and Nidal and Nodrog climb onto the roofs to try and get at their attackers. Kallista fires a ray of frost at one of the would be assassins and Nodrog, Nidal. and Adrahil use the bows. A few of the Drow are killed and some fall down into the streets. Nidal and Nodrog also fall from the rooftops as they jump across one too many alley ways. Three members of the city guard rush into the warren. All three are hit with crossbow bolts. Two are killed and one lies in the street begging for help. Kallista comes to his aid and drags him to safety.

Suddenly the bells of all the temples and churches in Statsberg begin to sound. People are screaming and rushing to and fro. The party realizes the Temple of Light is under attack!

The situation is desperate. Aldin lets the party know that they have a treasure item that could help the forest dwellers in their fight against the orcs - The Staff of the Woodlands.  Aldin asks the party to leave immediately and take the Staff of the Woodlands over the Fang  Mountains to the Wild Woods. Aldin is sure that once the staff is delivered to the Wild Woods the orcs will be defeated.  Aldin tells the best route to the woods is not along the river, but overland by way of Littleton and Stone Keep.  The party are reluctant to leave on this errand.  Having defeated the shambling mound; the party get into a rowboat and sets off to pursue the wizard in the harbour. Nidal uses her gem of seeing to find the Grim Reaper. Without the gem the ship is invisible. When the party approach the ship they find that there is some kind of dimension wall or wall of invisibility cloaking the ship. Adrahil and Nodrog push through the wall and after getting over their arms disappearing into thin air, they clamber up the side of the Grim Reaper.  A battle breaks out on the deck of the ship. The drow are tough customers and not willing to give up. While the party struggles with the crew, the wizard unleashes a fireball on the deck that engulfs almost everyone. Some drow are killed in the explosion of fire and Nidal, who is already injured, drops burned and unconscious to the deck. Things are looking very desperate.  Suddenly, Bimmz swoops down out of the sky breathing fire and strafes the wizard and drow with fire breath. The wizard is b...
